Hello Everyone! Here are a few excerpts from my recent podcast episode, The Benefits Of Pressure where I take a look at what I believe are at least two potential benefits of pressure for us!
“I believe that when God is the author of whatever pressure we might be experiencing, that there is a God-given process to that pressure and if we allow that process of pressure to not only build up discipline within us, but build up our strength and endurance as well, we will eventually see the result and outcome God wants for us!”
…” however, I do realize that pressure is not a process that is likely to feel very good to us and so we might be tempted to quit. This is why I think it is important to have the strength of conviction that discernment from the Holy Spirit can bring to help us know that God is in fact the author of the pressure we are experiencing. I also believe it is important for us to make up our minds to stay committed to the path we feel God has put us on in life…”
“…the first benefit of pressure that stood out to me is one that I have already touched on and it is the idea that God often uses pressure in our lives to build up strength within us and this brings to my mind the idea of resistance training where we feel the pressure is pushing us to our limit and maybe even beyond what we feel we can bear but instead of breaking us in a destructive way, I believe this pressure when in God’s hands is being used constructively to strengthen us as we find ourselves challenged to hang in there farther and longer than we ever thought we could!”
“…the second potential benefit of pressure that stood out to me was the idea that pressure can help motivate us to seek out more understanding and insight from God about what we are going through and why we are going through it! What really intrigues me about this is that I believe that when we are able to better understand why we are going through something we are not only strengthened emotionally and psychologically, but our conviction is strengthened as well! I think this can be a particularly great and valuable benefit because at least in my experience, the more insight and understanding I have had about what I am going through and why I am going through it, the less likely I will be to resist the process of pressure. It has been my experience that the more confident I can be about the processes I am going through in life, the stronger my resolve and conviction will be to stay on track with God and remain committed to facing those pressures head-on!”
